The Affirmation Quotation Project began around 2000 on the Lumonics website, although it didn't have a formal name. We included a quote of the week in text form about ideas and issues that mattered to us, especially world peace and peace of mind, personal development, hunger, poverty, disease, prejudice, and human and animal rights. The project expanded when we added a picture of the week (a still image extracted from the video art of Dorothy Tanner and Marc Billard, the source material of the visuals.) In 2003, the text and pictures were combined into still images and animated images.

I have selected some of my favorite quotations on this page which you are welcome to share. Use is restricted to "personal and non-commercial." Any quotes that you like can be uploaded to an image hosting service like Photobucket or Flickr, or you can copy and paste images directly to your computer.

The quotations selected on this page are in the public domain, generally defined as a work that is published prior to 1923. If you have an original quote, poem, or song lyric that you would like animated, you are welcome to email it to me. Also welcome are your favorite quotes in the public domain.

I am also including additional pages of quotations. Many of the quotes, lyrics, and poems are not in the public domain but have inspirational messages that I like to share.

I hope you enjoy using the quotes as much as I do.

Music I chose for the program:
Heart of the River by Dorothy Tanner & Marc Billard
New Mexico by Dorothy Tanner & Marc Billard

(Clarification: Holly referred to animations created for music groups...these were not commissioned by the groups and are done to express my appreciation of the messages in the lyrics.)

A Cause of Importance

The Nothing But Nets Campaign (www.nothingbutnets.net) is a grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. The campaign is part of the United Nations Foundation, and the donations provide anti-malaria bed nets for children in Africa. One bed net costs $10 to buy and deliver to families in need, and can last about four years. Visit www.nothingbutnets.net for more info and to make a contribution
